I had a chance to attend the Stars v Stars game at the brand new Cedar Park Center. Below are a few of the observations I have about the team, arena and sponsorships.
The Good:
-As you walk in the arena you get the feeling you are in a really nice facility..yes it's brand new so that helps but the common areas are very wide and spacious and clean
-Plenty of concession stands and bathrooms
-Every seat in the house is a good seat. I sat second row on the blue line and really enjoyed being close to the action
-The pre-game team introductions were done nicely..not to long and did not try to over do the fireworks.
-Being an AHL team the quality of the hockey is outstanding and I did not hear one fan screaming "Fight" like I did at every ice Bats game I ever went to.
The Not so Good:
-$10 Parking
-Lack of padding on seats..man they are hard.
Over all I was very happy with my experience with the new Cedar Park Center and the Texas Stars. The tickets are set at a good price and although the parking and concessions are over priced it is what the market will bear for now. I would recommend making it a more family friendly experience and include the kids maybe with a skate after the games or on days off. Really need to get the community of Cedar Park and Leander behind the team. Include more local business in the sponsorship plan maybe with a "Local Sponsorship Club" reduced price and benefits to get them included.
More to come as the Texas Stars take on Grand Rapids on Thursday and I will be in attendance and will blog all the details and my observations after the game.
